Indestructible is the fourth studio album by American rock band Disturbed. The album was officially released on June 3, 2008,[1] however its digital version was released on May 30, 2008 in the European iTunes Stores.[2] Indestructible is Disturbed's third straight #1 debut on the Billboard 200. More notably, only six other bands have ever had three straight #1 debuts on the Billboard 200. These bands include Van Halen, U2, Metallica, Dave Matthews Band, Staind and System of a Down. [3]

[edit] History
In an interview with "The Big Rock Show", Disturbed's guitarist Dan Donegan stated that their new album will be a lot "ballsier" than their previous albums and that the band is trying to mix the elements of the earlier records into something new and fresh.[4]
David Draiman stated in an interview with MTV that the album “seems to have taken on a darker, more evil character than the previous albums. It’s more furiously paced and complex." He also said, "Producing the record ourselves has been a learning experience that will serve the record well.”
Draiman's inspiration for the album was from "bad luck" that had occurred over the past few years, including a motorcycle accident, a garage burning that destroyed most of his vehicles,a suicide incident and a number of "bad relationships." Draiman has said that he anticipated the following tracks to be on the record: "The Night," "Run," "Deceiver," "Enough," "Inside the Fire" and "Torn". It is confirmed that a cover of Faith No More's hit song "Midlife Crisis" will be released as a B-side track.
In an earlier interview, Draiman said that they are going to record 15 songs, but will only put 12 songs on the album. According to Disturbed's official website, the band headed out to Los Angeles for the mixing stage, which started on November 29, 2007[5] and finished recording in early December 2007.[6]
A thirty-second sample of a "new" track, which was a re-recording of "Perfect Insanity", was released on their MySpace page on February 26, 2008, and the whole track became available for download on their official website on March 7, 2008. The track has been confirmed to be on the album. The first single, "Inside the Fire" began airing on the radio on March 24, 2008. One day later, the single was released for download on the iTunes Store and Amazon.com.
On April 18, 2008, Draiman had an interview with MTV's Headbanger's Blog website. During this interview, Draiman talked about the Mayhem festival, the torrents of aggression behind the album; the meaning of the album title; his past battles with substances and circumstance; his experience playing for U.S. troops overseas and the betrayal he’s encountered in his search for a soul mate.[7]
On May 2, 2008, the band released the music video for "Inside the Fire"[8], which can be viewed on their official website.
The album artwork for all three versions of Indestructible were made by David Finch.
On the bonus DVD packaged with the limited edition of the album, entitled The Making of Indestructible, it is revealed that there were two additional songs that were written for the album, but were never recorded. The songs were titled "Emptiness" and "Mine".
The album was released worldwide for digital download and physical purchasing on June 3, 2008, with the exception of Australia where it was released on June 7, 2008.
The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, with sales of 252,000 in its first week.[9]
[edit] Reception
The ratings for Indestructible were generally favorable. Some of the criticism it received included the comments made by guitarist Dan Donegan that the album would be "ballsier" was not true. At some points, the album "seems longer then it actually is", and some tracks just "don't deliver".[10]
There was however, much praise for this album, particularly among Disturbed's fanbase. Many fans praised the album for having a unique track list, claiming every song had it's own story. Praise was also received for the "dark and gloomy" atmosphere that many of the songs have to them.
