Independent Citizens' Election Committee
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Independent Citizens' Election Committee is a former municipal political organization in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It was established in 1971, when Winnipeg was amalgamated with neighbouring municipalities, as a successor to the Greater Winnipeg Election Committee. The group voluntarily dissolved in 1983, and its members became independents. The ICEC was the dominant group on council for the majority of its existence.
The ICEC's political direction was centre-right and pro-development. Most of its members supported the Progressive Conservatives or Liberals at the provincial level.
