Indeed.com is a job search engine. It was launched in November 2004 as a "search engine for jobs - with a radically different approach to job search.[1]"
Indeed gives job seekers free access to millions of employment opportunities from thousands of websites. The website offers job search functionality as a vertical search site by aggregating job listings from thousands of websites including major job boards, newspapers, associations and company career pages.
Indeed was co-founded by Paul Forster and Rony Kahan. The company is privately held with investment from The New York Times Company, Allen & Company and Union Square Ventures.[2]
In 2005, Indeed lauched their beta version of what they refer to as "pay-per-click job adverstising network".[3] In addition to searching job postings, it also allows the occurrence of words therein to be plotted over time, ostensibly as an indicator of trends in the job market [1].
There are also a UK and Canadian versions of the website.

[edit] Concept
Rather than simply being a singular employment search engine, Indeed gives job seekers free access to employment opportunities from thousands of Web sites. They include job listings from all of the other major job boards, newspapers, company career pages and more. Indeed not only shows jobs that companies post on their Web site. By simply searching the Indeed database, users have access to thousands of job openings.[4] They have indexed having over 50 million jobs a year from thousands of Web sites.[5] Job seekers do not apply for jobs through Indeed, just receive the listing as to where the job is posted. Applicants can then decide which jobs are of interest and then go to the corresponding sites to apply.
[edit] Search Features
To use Indeed, one does not have to be a registered user. The benefits of becoming one are having the ability to save job searches and having job alerts emailed. With that in mind, Indeed also offers a variety of plugins to make job searching easier. They include a Firefox and Google desktop plugin, Google toolbar button, Google homepage display, Windows Life gadget, Netvibes job search module, Google Maps job search mapplet and Facebook job search. Additionally, Indeed also offers a salary search, to see how much money people earn in different job brackets based on location, forums to discuss employment inquiries with other users, a job trends chart to see up to date employment information and the ability to save job searches as RSS feeds.
