Indas (also spelt Indus) (Bengali: ইন্দাস) is a town, community development bloc and assembly constituency in Bankura district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Indas is located at 23° 9' 0" N, 87° 37' 0" E[1]

Unlike most of Bankura district which is composed of red latté rite soil, Kotulpur, Patrasayer and Indas, blocks lie in alluvial zone. In this region the soil is deep, texturally medium fine, mostly acidic in soil reaction and moderately well drained. Major part of the region harvests more than one crop utilizing canal irrigation as well as ground water. [2]

In the 2001 census, Indas community development bloc had a total population of 152,829 of which 78,324 were males and 74,505 were females. Decadal growth for the period 1991-2001 was 15.48% for Indas, against 13.79% in Bankura district. Decadal growth in West Bengal was 40.13%.[3]

Indas Bloc had a total scheduled caste population of 65,156 and a scheduled tribe population of 2,823.[4]

Indas is an intermediate panchayat in Bankura district, with Akui I & II, Amrul, Dighalgram, Indas I & II, Karisunda, Mongalpur, Rol and Sahaspur gram {village) panchayats under it.[5]

In the 2006 elections to the state assembly, Mahadeb Patra of CPI(M) won the Indas seat, reserved for scheduled castes, defeating his nearest rival Basudeb Digar of AITC. Nanda Dulal Majhi of CPI(M) defeated Purnima Lohar of AITC in 2001, Naba Kumar Rajak of INC in 1996, and Sanatan Santra of INC in 1991. Badan Bora of CPI(M) defeated Piru Chandra Pandit of INC in 1987, Gour Ch. Lohar of INC in 1982 and Nabadurga of Janata Party in 1977. [6]

Indas is part of Vishnupur (Lok Sabha constituency).[7]

As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in the West Bengal, assembly constituency no.257 Indus (SC) will cover Indus community development bloc, Balsi-I, Balsi-II, Biur betur, Jamkuri and Kushdwip gram panchayats of Patrasayer community development bloc, and Laugram, Madanmohanpur gram panchayats of Kotulpur community development bloc. It will form part of parliamentary constituency no. 37 Bishnupur (SC).[8]
