Ince-in-Makerfield, usually known just as Ince is a district of the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, in Greater Manchester, England.
Ince is situated one mile from Wigan town centre and serves as a residential suburb of Wigan[1], being divided locally in to two separate areas - Higher Ince and Lower Ince. From 1894 Ince constituted an urban district of the administrative county of Lancashire and in 1974 became part of the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan.
It is served by Ince railway station.
It is currently in the Makerfield Parliamentary constituency, but if proposed boundary changes are confirmed by the Boundary Commission for England, Ince-in-Makerfield will be moved into the adjoining Wigan seat.
