In the Jailhouse Now

In the Jailhouse Now is a song performed by many artists and which has at least three versions. Two different versions of the song were written by Jimmie Rodgers. "In the Jailhouse Now" tells the story of "Rambling Bob," whereas "In the Jailhouse Now #2" follows the misadventures of a man named "Campbell." Artists who recorded the song include Suzy Bogguss, Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, Tim Blake Nelson with The Soggy Bottom Boys, Webb Pierce, Leon Russell and Doc Watson.

There is another version, different tune to the Jimmie Rodgers song, credited to somebody called Murphy. It was recorded by the Memphis Jug Band in the 1920s. The people in the song are Jim Johnson, Sam Jones, Henry Crews and "Sonny".[citation needed]
