[edit] Background

Hilson explained the title as the following,

It’s my way of saying nothing in the world is perfect and no person in it is, either. None of us is exempt from certain hardships and heartbreaks. It was really important for me to write songs that women can relate to from real situations. I didn’t want to do an album that painted myself as perfect because no matter how things look, no one is.[2]

Hilson released a promotional video in June 2008, around the same time of the release of her first single Energy. The video shows part of an interview thought to be recorded for MTV.[5]

[edit] Production

The album will include production by Hilson's common collaborators, Timbaland, who is the executive producer of the album, Danja, Polow da Don and others while boasting writing credits from fellow Timbaland-collaborator, Justin Timberlake and her writing and production collective, The Clutch.[6]

[edit] Songs

Polow da Don confirmed in an interview with Rap-Up that the first single would be "Henny and Apple Juice", which featured Ludacris and Snoop Dogg.[7] It was later confirmed at the Verizon and People show dedicated to Timbaland that Hilson's first single would be "Return the Favor", which she performed at the show.[8] However, Amazon has officially added a song called "Energy" for purchase on May 27, 2008. It has been confirmed by Keri Hilson's myspace page that the single "Energy" is the official first single of the album by Hilson entitled "In A Perfect World "

Keri Hilson recorded "Get It Girl" for Verizon V-Cast Exclusive ringone & it was released on iTunes. It's unknown if the song will be featured on the album.
