In Your Face is Fishbone's first full length album released in 1986. At the time of its release, Fishbone was not well known, and it wasn't until their next album, Truth and Soul, that they became a household name.[citation needed]

The album contains a mix of ska, reggae, soul and funk, but very little of the hard rock and punk sound the band would adopt in coming years.

The band toured in support of this album by opening for The Beastie Boys on their Licensed to Ill tour.[citation needed]
