[edit] Episode recap
Addison’s been fantasizing about Pete, and can’t seem to stop. Naomi thinks that a professional like Violet will be able to help. Violet suggests that Addison just needs to use her fantasies of Pete to help “scratch the itch”. Addison drops the bomb on Naomi and Violet about how she doesn’t “do that”.
Pete has a female athlete who presents with cold symptoms. She ends up having bronchial spasms and needs steroids to get it under control which would ruin her chances of going to the Olympics, so she declines and leaves. Pete can’t get ahold of her coach so he goes to see him at the meet. The girl collapses and when brought to the hospital, drugs are found in her system. The coach had taken matters into his own hands and given them to her. Now, she may never run again and Pete punches the coach in rage.
Dell does his first pap smear. His first patient was too discomforted by his youth and cuteness to accept the pap smear. His second patient was all too willing to be touched by a young, handsome male. On his third try, an older woman didn’t want someone as young as Dell checking out her private area. Dell has enough and finally stands up for himself and his abilities.
Sam’s patient is a woman that was attacked by a burglar in her own home while her husband was away. She wants a drug that will allow her to forget the experience and Violet is brought in for a psych consult. Being a woman and a mother, the victim was more concerned about how her husband was going to deal with her attack. She was being brave, but he had a hard time dealing with the overwhelming sense of guilt he had. Violet and Sam helped them realize that despite the wife being assaulted, the husband was equally victimized and they had to rely on each other to get through the ordeal.
Meanwhile, Violet’s been paid a visit by her ex, Alan. They go behind closed doors for a while and Cooper gets concerned. When they exit, she vows that they are only going to be friends and they have set up a time to get coffee. Cooper heads to her house after the meeting with comfort food and movies to find Alan at Violet’s house. A heartbroken Cooper tells her that he won’t be there to pick up the pieces after she gets her hopes up again. Later an optimistic Violet meets up with Alan to talk, during which he tells her that he and his wife are trying to have a baby. After seeing that Violet is upset by the news, Alan goes to leave, but a frustrated Violet tells him to sit back down, because she is the one that needs to walk away this time. Once again Violet is an emotional wreck, and this time she is comforted by Sam. But in the end, Violet shows up on Cooper's doorstep wondering why he wasn’t the one to check in to make sure she was ok.
Addison gets a call from Naomi and Sam’s thirteen year old daughter, Maya, and her friend Ruby, as Maya thinks she has gonorrhea. She tests negative, but Addison is concerned about Maya having sex so early in life. Addison struggles with her need to tell Naomi about Maya, and her obligation to patient confidentiality. Later, Addison gets an emergency phone call from Maya. Maya’s friend Ruby was found lying on the ground in the late stages of an ectopic pregnancy. Itis revealed that Maya wasn’t the one sexually active; it was really Ruby. While Addison is performing the surgery, Maya calls Naomi. A hurt Naomi is upset with Addison for not telling her about the possibility that Maya was sexually active. Addison encourages Naomi to have “the talk” with Maya. Later Sam and Naomi acknowledge that they haven’t been the perfect divorced parents they thought they were, but they’ll try harder.[1]
