"In My Mind" is a song by Heather Headley, released as a single from her second album In My Mind (2006).
The song, covered by Headly and written by singer\songwriter Shannon Sanders for his 1999 album, "Outta Nowhere" [1] , tells about a woman who is still in love with her ex-boyfriend and feels that, according to lyrics, "In my mind, I'll always be his lady. In my mind, I'll always be his girl."
[edit] Music video
The video begins with Headley lying on her couch, the camera then pans to a clock showing "2:03." She then walks around singing the first verse, then leading to the chorus where she sits at a table. The video the switches in and out of Headley singing and talking to her ex-boyfriend's mother, who then hugs her near the end of the second verse. She is then shown walking with her old boyfriend, and as the bridge begins, a tear falls from her eye. As the song progresses, she is then seen singing and holding the boyfriend, switching into scenes where she is standing in place, singing.
