In Minor is a band based in Kristiansand, in the south of Norway. Their music is often described as a blend of several hardrock genres, including stoner rock, hardcore, metal, but also a variety of melodic elements, portrayed by both vocals and leadguitars.
The band was founded in 2002 by Henrik Kjelsrud, Maarten van der Eynden and Thor Einar Isaksen, and later included Simen Høgdal Pedersen, former drummer of the band Timothy. The band went through several names, most famously as Sarcoma, but have played under the current name since 2003 . The name points at the bands tendency of always making songs in minor, as opposed to playing them in major, septims, etc. And as with the name, their music have evolved from melodic rock, boarderlining emo, to a much heavier, riff-based sound.
[edit] Releases
As of yet, they have released to self-financed EPs, the first In Minor EP in 2004, scoring them a gig at the local Quart Festivals club concept. The EP received mixed reviews, but did get them overall acceptance as one of the up-and-coming bands in the local music scene. Their second EP, [Minor Music], was released in May, 2005. This saw better reviews in paper and press, and raised demand for the band to be signed. It also resulted in gigs at Quart Festival ([Goth City Live]), [Fjellpark Festival], [Lyngdal Rock Festival], and around the greater cities in the southern part of Norway.
[edit] Future actions
The music on both released EPs are, however, not representative of their current afore mentioned sound. And as of February 2007 the band entered studio, cooperated by dUb studio, Kristiansand, recording material for a full length album. Negotiations with several labels have been made, but the outcome is still a safely guarded secret. However, another EP release have been announced by the band on their [myspace], probably during the summer of 2007.
