Imran Garda

Imran Garda is a news anchor for Al Jazeera English. Previously, he worked as a Presenter for M-Net Supersport, Africa’s largest cable sports network. He attended Crawford College and the University of the Witwatersrand where he studied drama. Having completed his first two years at Wits he auditioned for a role on Supersport as a presenter. He became one of the youngest sports journalists in South Africa and became a popular household name. In 2005, having worked for Supersport for fours years, he was hired as a sports journalist by Al Jazeera English. He quickly showed his qualities and was hired by the News team where he has now worked for the past year.

Imran has developed into one of the brightest stars of Al Jazeera English over the past year. He recently presented and co-produced a docu-film on the Turkish Secularist Atatürk called "Father of the Turks" [1]. He also spent time reporting in India on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of independence and partition.

Imran grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa but now lives in Doha, Qatar with his wife and daughter.
