Talk:Improvised weapons

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I have to disagree on certain items shown here; For example, keys. Keys are not that effective as commonly taught by many self-defense instructors in McDojos. It's just an RBSD fad. In a street fight or any violent scenario, you would probably be better off fighting with your bare hands(Or better yet, you could always run away).

And a wallet?! What the hell?! How can wallets, which are usually made from smooth leather or nylon, cause any significant damage required to stop an attacker? I'm sorry, but that is just asinine.

And the link on the reference section just reeks of RBSD.

Key. Eyes. Very ow. That's the ONLY way they're helpful, though-what else are you going to do? Poke them to death? As for a wallet, MAYBE if it's got a lot of change, you could slap a dude in the face with it, but that'd only be useful to daze him and buy you a chance to actually punch the guy. [edit] Mistagged edit

I accidentally tagged my last edit to this page as "rvv", when it just should have been "rv"; it was not vandalism, merely an incorrect edit. Not all insurgents are criminals--only if they lose. After all, when was the last time you heard George Washington called a criminal? scot 22:52, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

hello anyone heard or a milwall brick? an effective solid club that can be made from rolling up a newspaper in a certain way?--Snowy Mcintosh 00:09, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Whelks as improvised weapons? Excuse me?

I'm pretty sure that not too many people will find Whelks lying around their houses, waiting to be used to bludgeon the living daylights out of a person. Soniczip 13:54, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

  • I'd say remove the Whelks...that's pretty rare as 'natural debris' as most people don't live near the shore. Pine cones are more common but don't do that much damage I'm afraid. Vaughnstull (talk) 15:29, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Okay, but shoelaces?

If you can clarify that being whipped with shoestrings can A), be used as a valid self-defense technique, and B), can actually be considered domestic abuse if used against family; that would be great. But I think if you get beat with shoelaces, it's kinda sad. Just hold your hand up.
