[edit] Is it really limited to publishing?
As much as this seems to be a bizarre take, and I know that some of you are probably going to scoff at me for asking this but, is it really limited to publishing? Or, can we take a little bit of creative license with the word and include "brand name" type things which are used in many markets by many manufacturers to distinguish between products made by them (for an example you can look at HP and how many of its products are branded as Compaq while others are branded as HP). The difference between the Compaq and HP lines scarily parallels the differences in different imprints of book companies. The real question is, what is the difference between an imprint and a brand name? If an imprint is a brand name, then why isn't this article just a section of that article? --Sire22 02:29, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
