The Imperial Theater in Copenhagen, Denmark has the largest single screen in Northern Europe with 1102 seats. It is THX certified and has a digital projector from Texas Instruments. The cinema opened in 1963 with the musical West Side Story. It was almost ruined in the 1980s and a proposition was made to split it up to five screens. This plan was ultimately rejected, and Nordisk Film, the current owner, bought it from Stjernebiograferne.
The cinema is situated near the Vesterport train station.
