Imo's Pizza is a U.S. chain of pizza restaurants based in the greater St. Louis, Missouri area. They are noteworthy for their version of the St. Louis-style pizza, which is common in the area. The restaurants also sell an assortment of salads, appetizers, and desserts. They recently joined in on the trend of selling desserts that can be made in a pizza oven. Their new menu offering is called Cinnimos, a type of cinnamon bread sticks. While mostly found in the St. Louis area, the franchised pizzerias are also found scattered throughout select locations in the Midwest.

[edit] History

Opened in 1964 by Ed Imo, Imo's is occasionally credited with creating the original St. Louis-style pizza, however the true origin is unknown. St. Louisans sometimes give the credit to them, usually with an ironic story of how it was invented to go along with it[citation needed], simply because Imo's Pizza became the most widespread, popular, and commercially-successful restaurant serving St. Louis-style pizza. There are currently over 80 locations in Missouri, Illinois and Kansas. The company is based in St. Louis, Missouri[1].

In 2004, Imo's was ranked the 26th largest pizza chain in the United States; it tallied sales of $72.5 million[1]. Cecil Whittaker's Pizza and Elicia's Pizza are two local competing chains.
