IMLS WebWise

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The IMLS WebWise Conference, a signature initiative of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), spotlights the future of high-quality online content for inquiry and education, the latest research and innovations in digital technology and the potential impacts on library and museum services, and effective museum and library collaborations in the digital environment. Conference participants include representatives from museums, libraries, archives, systems science, and other interested fields. Since its start in 2000, the annual conference has also showcased exemplary digital projects by grantees of IMLS, the primary source of federal funding for museums and libraries.

Cosponsoring institutions of the conference are selected every two years, and each year, the location and theme of the IMLS WebWise conference is different. The theme for the 2008 conference, co-sponsored by The Wolfsonian-Florida International University is “Web 2.0: The Power of Community.” The 2008 IMLS WebWise conference will take place March 5–7, 2008 in Miami Beach, FL.
