Talk:Imjin River
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Origin of the name
I'm removing the section that claims the name of the Imjin River comes from the Imjin year of the sexagenary cycle. This was sourced from [1], and I'm also removing the link. That web site contains the author's original research, and unfortunately he seems to be mistaken in this case: the Imjin of the river corresponds to the Chinese characters 臨津, while the Imjin of the year is 壬辰. They are the same in hangul, 임진, and the same when transliterated, but are apparently unrelated. Thanks to LERK for sorting out the Hanja. --Reuben 18:45, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
