[edit] Summary

Milled peat production in a section of the Bog of Allen in County Offaly in the Irish Midlands. The peat in the foreground is a machine-cut version of the traditional hand-cut sods; the sods are known as turf. Here, they are stacked to dry out before being used in domestic fireplaces.
