Non-free magazine cover. Does not increase the user's understanding in a way that words alone cannot. The article already says that Barkley made his first appearance on the cover of SI. In order for the image to be used there must be mention of SI in the article. In addition, the image should appear next to the mention, that is why the article must state that Barkley made his first appearance on the magazine. Additional Fair-Use rationale includes:

It represents a Historical moment in Charles Barkley's career of when he first appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

No fair use photo could be used to replace the image.

It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to market or sell the work in any way.

- Over the course of his career and afterwards, Barkley appeared on the cover of many magazines. Under your logic, we would be able to have images of every single one of his cover appearances simply by having text that stated, "In August of 2000, Barkley appeared on the cover of Foobar magazine." Your argument of, "Well other articles have something similar" is much like, "If my friends jump off a bridge, I'm gonna do it too." Magazine covers should only be used when the cover itself is notable or the source of some controversy (example: Demi Moore on the cover of Vanity Fair).   - Firstly, stating "If my friends jump off a bridge, I'm gonna do it too" as a means for describing my argument is highly uncalled for, offensive and insulting. I would expect better from one who is supposed to be an Admin. Next, my logic has nothing to do with him simply appearing on the magazine, it is the logic that it was the first time he ever made an appearance on it's publication; which is widely regarded as a significant career achievement for sports figures. Because he subsequently made multiple appearances on the publication or others, does not diminish the value or historical significance of his initial appearance on the cover of sports illustrated.       - Thank you, I appreciate your apology. I notice that you cite Demi Moore's vanity fair image as proper rationale for fair use. However, the counter argument you cite here contradicts your support of her image. Showing us the cover of her on Vanity Fair does not make the text any clearer. Again, my reason for including the image is to portray a historically significant moment in his Career. The Image is a representation of Barkley's breakthrough into commercial media. It portrays a historically significant change for the Philadelphia 76ers as well, as Barkley became the face of the franchise following Julius Erving's retirement. For these reasons, I will reiterate my argument that it does not simply serve as "eye candy," it represents a significant career achievement/turning point for Barkley.         I will of course beg to differ on Demi Moore -- the pose became iconic enough that it was parodied numerous times, so showing what the pose was is helpful to the reader. On the other hand, the article really should get more into the furor it raised. As it stands right now, the use of that image is barely passable. Then again, it could be that so much time has passed since then and a magazine cover with a nude, pregnant woman just doesn't shock as much as it did at the time. As for the Barkley image, those are good arguments. Likely vandalism. It's a picture that looks like Bob Saget, but isn't. The uploader's only contributions to Wikipedia are to make sure this image stays on the Bob Saget article. Summary of the pic states "Photograph of Bob Saget during a stand-up comedy routine taken with a Motorola Razr V3i Cameraphone", but this does not appear to be the case. First, there is no article A Z (again, obscured) (nor is there a deletion log entry); second, they all appear to be slightly photoshopped, and inappropriately so for encyclopedic value; and third, they appear to be from this website, and there is no indication they are freely licensed. First of all, this image is redundant with Image:HFTtext.png, and thus orphaned. There is no need to have two images of the same subject. On top of that, the SVG version does not contain the fl ligature that the PNG does. Additionally, the foundry's End-User License Agreement specifically prohibits using a scalable, non-raster reproduction of it's typeface. No, the event documented in the image is discussed in the article, but this cover image is just briefly mentioned. The article mentions that the event was depicted in this and two more magazine covers, and the image's caption contains an unsourced (unsoursable?) statement that the event became famous "partly because of this Sports Illustrated cover".
