She began writing songs and practiced her vocals. Her debut album, Chupacabra, released in 1997, featured the MTV hit "Legend of a Cowgirl."

1997? I doubt it... I saw the video Legend of a Cowgirl on AFRTS when I was in Korea, which was getting a lot of airplay at the time, and I left Korea in July 1996. -76.4.49.201 04:55, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

According to both Amazon.com and SamGoody.com the album Chupacabra and the single "Legend of a Cowgirl" were released in 1997. DanielD1980 22:33, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
