"traumatic secularization" ... It sounds like the author strongly believes that church and state really ought to be united. In any event, the article seems less than objective.
The substantial re-edit has, I believe, addressed the above issue, but a request for citations is in order. Ben MacDui (Talk) 23:04, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
