Imam Hafiz Masood

Imam Hafiz Muhammed Masood (Urdu: إ مام حافظ مسعود) is the past Imam of the Sharon Mosque, located in Sharon, MA. He joined the Sharon Mosque in 1998 and terminated on Nov. 2006. He has earned the honorary title Hafiz by memorizing the entire text of the Holy Qur'an. Masood is a native of Lahore, Pakistan, obtaining an economics degree from the University of Faisalabad before teaching at the International Islamic University in Islamabad. He now resides in Sharon, Massachusetts. On November 15, 2006, Masood was arrested by the United States Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, in a multi-state sweep involving 32 other arrests, and charged with failing to properly leave and reenter the country on a student visa. On November 21, 2006, Masood posted $7500 bond and was released to return to continue to serve his community.
