[edit] Background
Lyrically and philosophically, the project began as an exploration into the absurdity of subjective words and phrases given undue weight in contemporary, "politically correct" society. As Imaginary Lines I was further developed, it evolved into a more traditional rock project that maintains much of the political satire of the original concept (the forthcoming Imaginary Lines II continues in this vein).
Musically, Imaginary Lines is an eclectic mix of classic rock-n-roll mixed with influences of jazz, blues, and americanna driven by piano-led pop melodies that expand with complex arrangements. The influences range from Paul McCartney to Pink Floyd to Rush, with many variants in between. Ric Albano, the primary songwriter and project sponsor, provides keyboards, bass, and vocals with former Badlees Ron Simasek on drums and Bret Alexander on guitars.
The albums were recorded at Saturation Acres Recording Studio in Danville, PA and engineered by Paul Smith and Bret Alexander with post-production, mixing, and mastering done in Ric Albano's private studio.
