[edit] Ilyushin Il-78 verification needed

The serial # provided for verification turned up one of them. But it's not with the US Navy. http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1088298/M/ --293.xx.xxx.xx 09:01, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Its a company that intends to get contracts to do Air to Air refuelling training Hudicourt 23:25, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

The Source I found with IL-78 performance (Ilyushin Il-76, Russia's Versatile Airlifter) actually gives an empty weight of 92 tons for the Il-78. However, it also gives a fuel capacity of 138 tons, which added to the Empty weight gives a take-off weight of 230 tons, 20 tons above its MTOW of 210 tons. That is why I assumed a type and listed 72 tons as empty weight, which may be wrong and needs to be verified from other sourcesHudicourt 23:38, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ilyushin Il-78 bought from Uzbekistan

Someone added that India purchased its Il-78s from Uzbekistan, as thought the Government or the Air Force of Uzbekistan had sold them to India. In fact, they were purchased brand new from the factory, which happens to be in Uzbekistan, so that mention could be added to all new Il-78 and Il-76 purchases

[edit] PAF buying Ilyushin Il-78 from Ukraine

The following Forum contains the translation of an interview given to the Press by the chief of the PAF. I wonder if the PAF will upgrade their IL-78 with PS-90 engines?
