I removed your link to the Volapük Yahoo group from the article on Johann Martin Schleyer; it was already linked from the main Volapük article, and did not seem relevant in the Schleyer article. --Jim Henry 17:13, 2 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Urquhart

Uh-oh! I've been working on an entry on Thomas Urquhart on and off for the couple weeks. I was just about done and I saw that you just put one up the very same day! The one I've got is a little bit more detailed--would you feel bad if I replaced yours with mine? Also, is there something I should do to avoid this sort of collision in the future? I guess I should have put a note on the talk page saying that I was working on a new entry, but I thought, "What are the odds that somebody else is going to write about Thomas Urquhart in the next few days"? PRiis 22:56, 2 Aug 2004 (UTC)

I went ahead and changed it. Let me know if there's a problem. PRiis 20:19, 5 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Presentation

Hi, I understood you have been inspiring yourself of my presentation for your meeting. If so, I am glad.

I wanted to ask you if you could share your additional information (such as charts, stats, screen shots and so, so that might improve my next personal presentation. Is it possible ? SweetLittleFluffyThing 13:35, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Yes, thanks so much for the source material for presenting to a large group. I have another presentation tomorrow for the Christa McAuliffe Center Conference where I'll be talking about Wikipedia and MediaWiki running on Linspire/Debian Linux. I have some charts that compare WP to Britannica and Grolliers online visits and page hits etc. I'll be glad to put those online also... ilvi 19:48, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)

I was creating a page on your language Esperando, and I was wondering if I could 'interview' you (via chat or e-mail) in order to fill out the article.

[edit] Le Imperio Roman

Salve!

Greetings, ILVI. I noticed your message about the Keene wikicity this morning, looked up your "ia:" page, was suitably impressed, and had no further reason to think about you - sorry! - until lunch-time, when one of life's coincidences happened. My workmate lent me a copy of a book of poetry, particularly so that I could reread "Horatius", by Englishman Lord Macaulay (1800-1859). With your apparent dislike of the Imperio roman, and your two native languages not including English, you may not have got as far as even seeing that poem, which is about the defence of Rome against the Etruscans. One name jumped out at me, though maybe it should not have. "Ilva" reminded me of your name, but I see it's not quite the same.

What's the origin of your login name? And could it be related to

"... Seius, whose eight hundred slaves
"Sicken in Ilva's mines"?

Hi Ilvi, please have a look at the wikicities project - there are some problems on the website - one edit for usre is some kind of self promotion (latest edit). [edit] request

Hello! I`ve got one request for you. I collect words in various languages. Now I`m looking for word "sugar" in other languages, but I can`t find an Andalusian dictionary. I`ve got counterparts of word "sugar" in Japanese, Ahmaric, Thai, Georgian and Chinese, so can you write me what is "sugar" in Andalusian Spanish language? I`ve got this word in 264 languages and dialects of many regions and countries in the world so it is very important for me! Thank you very much! Szoltys

[edit] Trust in Wikipedia

this is Cathy from Hong Kong working on a research about trust on Wikipedia. I wonder if you would kindly contact me at researchingmedia@gmail.com? I'd like to chat with you about Wikipedia of your language. Would you kindly drop me your email or IM (Skype, MSN, AIM or ICQ)? It wouldn't take more than ten minutes, but it would help enormously for us to understand the overall trust-based social landscape of Wikipedia. Thank you!

[edit] Proposed Deletions

I have placed a proposed deletion of Barry Stephen Nieuport on the grounds that vanity press authors do not belong in Wikipedia. Avt tor 05:46, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

I have also placed a proposed deletion of The Gorrideon on the grounds that vanity press books are not noteworthy according to usual Wikipedia standards. If you object, please add sources to explain the notability of the book, or else it would be necessary to submit a formal Articles for Deletion request. Avt tor 05:52, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up on your proposed deletions. I just got an email from the author who needed this explained. Maybe he can get in touch with you, Avt tor, and discuss... Anyway, you may want to give references for the deletion, like reasons why "vanity press authors" don't belong in Wikipedia, so that he may understand why you suggested the deletion, and he knows that it certainly doesn't come from me. I've no problem with it being there. Sincerely, Jay Bowks User:ILVI ilvi 20:21, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Vuykiped.jpg listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Vuykiped.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. MER-C 12:12, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia n'andalú

Hola, soy Jeneme. Quisiera preguntarte si se puede hacer otra votación sobre la wiki en andaluz y cómo habría que hacerlo. Gracias. [1]

[edit] Thanks!

Dear Jay,

Thanks for your support! I'm very happy to hear that you find my work for the Vükiped worthwhile. I do, however, agree with the critics who say that quality is more important than quantity, and I would love to see longer and more interesting Vükiped articles about all kinds of topics (especially also about Volapük topics -- history of the language and its authors, etc.). It is my hope, as you also said, that more people will hear about the language because of the large article count and that some will become collaborators who will help improve overall quality...

Now, precisely because I'm also interested in Volapük history, I'm curious about the history of this Vükiped. I understand you're probably overwhelmed with your work, but would you perhaps have some time to tell a little bit of the story of how and why you decided to start a Volapük wikipedia? When and why you had the idea, which were the problems (Was it easy or difficult to get the project started? Was there opposition from Wikipedians? Who else participated in the process? Are the discussions archived somewhere where I can read them?), etc.? Also, when, why and how did you become interested in the language? (You were also (one of) the founder(s) of the Volapük yahoo group, weren't you? And you also have an interesting page on artificial languages?) I'd use the information to write an article on the history of the Vükiped, and perhaps also another one about you (if you give me enough biographic details...). Thanks in advance! --Smeira 00:21, 18 setul 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Translation from Volapük

I see that you are listed as a Volapük level 2 speaker, so could you translate (and possibly analyse) the following two words: löpikalarevidasekretel and klonalitakipafablüdacifalöpasekretan and post the translation on my talk page.

Thanks a lot! --Vorkalloner 20:30, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Attempt to close Volapük Wikipedia

Dear Jay,

there seems to be an ongoing discussion on closing the Volapük wikipedia, generated by someone from the German wikipedia who doesn't like interlinks to Volapük (stub)-articles. Maybe you could come there and help fight for keeping it alive? Here is the link: Closure of Volapük Wikipedia. Thanks! Smeira 19:26, 21 september 2007.

Dear Jay,
Let me again invite you to vote on the proposed closure of vo.wiki (see link in the above message). The number of votes opposing closure is more than twice the number of votes supporting it, but one never knows. After all, Wikipedia is not a democracy. Smeira 23:16, 6 October 2007.

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:FrederickWilliamFranz-WTPres.png

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:FrederickWilliamFranz-WTPres.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 23:41, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Translating

Hi ILVI! I see on your user page that you speak e.g. Spanish and Interlingua, both languages which need more translators. I want to invite you to come to Betawiki. If you translate there, your translations can be used on every MediaWiki wiki, including all Wikimedia wikis. On Betawiki, we have special infrastructure which allows easy translating. There is also a special page to translate namespaces etc. I hope I convinced you, if so, follow the instruction on betawiki:Translating:How to start. Thank you very much! [edit] hi

Hi. I found you in categories of users who can contribute in English and Portuguese. I myself am a native speaker of English, but I'm well on my way to learning Portuguese. Just check out my user page and talk page, and join in any of the discussions. To keep updated, you can even put a watch on my user page, which will automatically watch my talk page. :-) learnportuguese (talk) 19:09, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
