Ilton Wjuniski

Ilton Wjuniski is a Brazilian-born French harpsichordist born on June 22, 1960 in São Paulo, Brazil.

Ilton Wjuniski was born in São Paulo, Brazil, where he studied piano and clavichord. At the age of 18 he came to Paris to work with Huguette Dreyfus. He also took lessons with Kenneth Gilbert. He studied in the Conservatoire de Paris from which he holds 4 « premiers prix »: Harpsichord and Basso Continuo (1981), Chamber Music (1982), Music History (1983) and Aesthetics (1986).
He won the 2nd Prize at the International Competition of Edinburgh (1982), the 2nd Prize and Special Continuo Prize at the Paris International Competition (1983) and the Unanimous 1st Prize at thePro Musicis International Award in New York (1983).
Ilton Wjuniski is professor in the Municipal conservatory of Paris (17th arrondissement).
Since 1985, he has been performing concerts in the U.S., Canada, in Asia (Japan, Hong-Kong), in Latin America (mainly in Brazil), in Europe (France, Germany, Switzerland, The Low Countries, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Norway, United Kingdom ) in Russia and in Armenia. He regurlarly performs in a duo with flutist Michael Faust. As a concertits, he also plays clavichord (Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque and Classical), and Organ (Iberian and Italian music of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries).
