[edit] Capitalisation

Is it an acronym? Should it be IKONOS or Ikonos...I see it both ways. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 131.120.161.58 (talk • contribs) 17:23, 25 May 2005.

I think it should be IKONOS —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.150.137.219 (talkcontribs) 20:18, 10 October 2006.
Ikonos (or IKONOS) is not an acronym therefore should not be capitalised. Though this is my opinion only. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Abefrancis (talk • contribs) 04:32, 5 July 2007.
Although GeoEye use IKONOS, the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (trademarks) page indicates we should probably be using Ikonos, since it isn't an acronym, unless it's commonly known as IKONOS everywhere else. A quick google shows that while more sites use the capitalised version, there are a significant minority which don't. So I don't think it qualifies as an exception. And it's not a difference that is likely to cause any confusion, so it's not crucial. Eve 11:08, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
