I am recently retired from a position as a research scientist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. My primarily research focus was on the use of insect cell cultures in the study of insect viruses. The major goal of this research is to develop insect viruses as biological control agents against pest insects. I have written Wiki pages on Sf21 (an insect cell line used widely in biotechnology) and Cypovirus and contributed images and some text to the Baculovirus article.
In my spare time, I enjoy hiking and backpacking (thus the reason for my adopting the user name Ikehiker, see my personal webpage) and have also contributed to some enthusiast forums on Pocket PCs. As part of this activity, I have created a WiFi Guide to instruct users of these devices on how to connect them to the Internet.
