Ikere-Ekiti, also known as Ikere or Ikerre, is a city in the Ekiti State of Nigeria. It is an agricultural centre. The 1991 census showed a population of 59,257, [1] but the current estimate is that this has now risen to more than 100,000. [2] [3]
Ikere is a town abundantly endowed with magnificent hills, including Orole and Olosunta. The town is located between Ado-Ekiti (the capital of Ekiti State) and Ikogosi, a resort noted for its dual cold and warm water springs.
The traditional ruler of Ikere is the Ogoga of Ikere-Ekiti, Oba Adegboye Akaiyejo.
Ikere is home to a College of Education.
