[edit] Overview

This is the user page for Isaiah Jackson. After 40 years as a professional conductor, I now focus on teaching, both privately and at the collegiate, graduate, and post-doctoral levels. Following the excellent example of Dr. Wayne Marshall, I too am interested in making Wikipedia a better place to read (and write), especially about music-related topics.

This spring (2008), I am again offering The Future of Music at Harvard Extension School, a third incarnation of the class. Inspired by Dr. Marshall and his students, our class at Longy School of Music devoted a good share of our class work to making edits and adding articles to Wikipedia around the vast subject of classical music's future, broadly interpreted. The Longy class has its own userpage for tracking our collective contributions. Our Harvard class is currently developing its own userpage.

At Longy School and at the Berklee College of Music, I also teach conducting.
