IHTSDO

The International Healthcare Terminology Standards Development Organisation (IHTSDO) was formed in 2006 with the purpose to develop and maintain international health terminology systems, in particular SNOMED CT. Founder (Charter) members of the IHTSDO include Australia, Canada, Denmark, Lithuania, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Legally it is a Danish charity, with subsequent development funded by voluntary subscription by governments.

In April 2007, the principle intellectual property of SNOMED CT was transferred to the IHTSDO.
