igourmet.com is a gourmet food and gift basket retailer founded in 1997 by Spencer Chesman. Its name came about by shortening the phrase "International Gourmet".
Chesman's grandfather Charles began importing cheese after returning from World War I, and the family has been in the cheese business ever since. igourmet.com sells over 800 cheeses plus an international selection of other gourmet foods. The company also offers gourmet gift baskets and of-the-month clubs.
The company utilizes its FreshWave packaging system to deliver perishable foods to customers via FedEx or UPS. igourmet competes with companies like Dean & DeLuca and Harry and David.
