Wikipedia talk:Ignored feature requests
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I've moved all of the requests that were either
- implemented or made moot in phase III, or
- rejected by the community during discussion
to Wikipedia:Feature requests/Phase II. If I misplaced anything, please move it to the right spot! — Toby 17:45 Jul 22, 2002 (PDT)
Since this page is being used for fresh feature requests -- and is getting long to boot -- I plan to refactor it and remove to another page anything that hasn't been discussed since we switched to Phase III. Objections? -- Toby 02:55 Apr 13, 2003 (UTC)
- It'd be better to move the content to the relevant feature trackers (or create them if they don't exist).
Short pages list
Moved from Wikipedia:Village pump.
Here I am again with one of my great newbie ideas. This one concerns the short pages list, which I perceive is still down. I think there should be an option in the left-hand nav bar to add a page to the short pages list, interfacing to a little tiny program that edits said list. The list would be of a fixed length (the current 125 looks good), so that any time a new stub is listed, an old listing falls off the end of the list. -- Smack
My own Feature Request would be to allow us to make Feature Requests here and not at SourceForge. Their site is very bad, contains banner ads, does not work in Opera 6.05 (which I use), and is generally not very pleasant. Also you need an extra login there, and their procedures for creating an account are unnecessarily complicated, and it's just simply not worth it for submitting a little Feature Request.
If so many people really watch "Recent Changes" so regularly, I'm sure those who have a SourceForge login can copy Feature Requests made here over to there? -- Timwi 20:33 17 Jun 2003 (UTC)
moving from pump
What is Wikipedia:Ignored feature requests for? I'm not sure I see the point of putting stuff there as opposed to just deleting it. Do you think maybe it would be better at m:MediaWiki feature request and bug report discussion? I was thinking that it might be best to put everything on that Meta page, and then any that are sensible copy to sourceforge and leave a link to the sourceforge record on the Meta page so people know what has and has not been submitted. Any thoughts? Angela. 03:16, 17 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- I thought just deleting might be considered rude. Moving to ignored feature requests allows text to be easily retrieved by the proposer. Moving to the relevant user talk page would be another option. I don't know much about the meta page, but I'm not sure whether the denizens there would appreciate village pump dumped conversation.
