Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema

Justice (Rtd) Iftikhar Ahmad Cheema was born in 1940 in a small village near Wazirabad, Punjab. He graduated from Govt.College Lahore and did his Masters from Punjab University, Lahore. Following the footsteps of his Uncle and Father in Law Justice (Rtd) Mohammad Afzal Cheema, he joined the Punjab University Law College for his LLB degree. He received his Law degree with a silver medal and proceeded to do Bat at Law from Lincoln's Inn, UK in 1969.

He completed his Bar at Law in 1971 and was offered a Job in one of the leading Law Practices in London. He refused and got involved in the Overseas Pakistani Students Politics and later became the President of the Pakistan Student Federation ( a central organisation of 4000 Pakistani students studying in various institutions of the UK at that time) by defeating Nawabzada Ghazunfar Gull of Gujrat.

He returned to Pakistan in 1974 to join the Judiciary and served in various districts of Punjab as District and Sessions Judge. He was elevated to become the Judge of the PUNJAB HIGH COURT in 1997 and retired in 2001.He was then made the Chairman of the Labour Appelette Tribunal and served there for two years.

Justice (Rtd) Iftikhar Cheema contested the 2008 general elections from PML(N) platform and defeated a stalwart of the PML(Q)Hamid Nasir Chattha with a margin of 23000 votes and became an MNA.
