If All the Stars Were Pretty Babies

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If All the Stars Were Pretty Babies is a cabaret act featuring American actresses Zooey Deschanel and Samantha Shelton. They perform around Los Angeles, California on an ad-hoc basis.

They got the name for their act from a song written in 1926 by Fred Fisher and Billy Rose. The band features musical director Graham Jackson on piano, drummer Steve DeLollis, double bassist Gary Viggers, Brian Walsh on clarinet and saxophone, and George Dudley on saxophone and flute. Former members include Mami Arizono, Kat Edwards, and Jason Bernstein.

Although no recordings of the act have been released, Deschanel has cropped up on a few records, namely the Elf soundtrack album (duetting with Leon Redbone on "Baby, It's Cold Outside"), Ben Lee's A Mixtape (playing piano on "You're The Reason") and on Coconut Records' (Jason Schwartzman) Nighttiming (singing on "Slowly" and "Ask Her To Dance"). Deschanel has also released an album as part of She & Him.
