[edit] Olympic Games Articles

I'm not sure it's worth creating articles for games where there is no info at all - Summer 2032 onwards have zero info beyond a scheduled game s year. Exxolon (talk) 23:06, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

There's even a specific policy that says, "Don't do it". To quote from WP:NOT#CRYSTAL -- "Individual scheduled or expected future events should only be included if the event is notable and almost certain to take place. If preparation for the event is not already in progress, speculation about it must be well documented. Examples of appropriate topics include the 2010 U.S. Senate elections and 2016 Summer Olympics. By comparison, the 2020 U.S. presidential election and 2040 Summer Olympics are not considered appropriate article topics because nothing can be said about them that is verifiable and not original research. Avoid predicted sports team line-ups, which are inherently unverifiable and speculative. A schedule of future events may be appropriate if it can be verified." I trust, then, that you won't find it untoward if I tag the articles referencing Olympic Games beyond 2016 for proposed deletion. Accounting4Taste:talk 23:07, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Make that 2032, as per User:Exxolon above. You may want to edit the infobox also. Accounting4Taste:talk 23:13, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Already did, I'll try to improve the 2032 article. IDosh (talk) 23:14, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your understanding and courtesy. I feel bad because you were working so hard and with such enthusiasm!! But the policy is really specific, so ... thanks again. Accounting4Taste:talk 23:17, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

I think it's quite appropiate to have an article about a future games where we have verifiable info from reliable sources about potential locations, bids or other relevant things, just not cookie cutter articles with no real content.Exxolon (talk) 23:22, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

The 2032 Summer Olympics page has now been protected until 2012. Later I found out that the page had previously been created many times and it even had a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2032 Summer Olympics. Currently I'm working on it at User:IDosh/To Do/1. Feel free to add any information, sources or anything else. IDosh (talk) 17:32, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Win easy trans logo.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:Win easy trans logo.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 09:09, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

{{help}} Ok, so I just added this article to two projects: Wikipedia:WikiProject Internet culture and Wikipedia:WikiProject Websites. Who is now responsible for giving the article a quality scale, assessment scale etc..- iDosH! talK? 16:55, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

I believe that any editor can rate the article on a quality scale. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 16:58, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Y! Answers.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Y! Answers.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:05, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
