Picture of the day
United States Capitol dome, 1846

A daguerreotype of the United States Capitol in 1846, with the original green copper dome as designed by Charles Bulfinch. Over time, extensions to both the north and south wings, made to accommodate the addition of new states to the Union, made the dome aesthetically displeasing, and as a result, it was replaced by a white cast iron dome which was completed in 1866.

Personal Information

My name is Nadir David Steinmetz and I am Israeli, though I live in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. I was born on October 6 in the year of 1994 in Jerusalem, Israel. I have lived, though, in Tel-Aviv. After almost 9 years in Israel, I moved to São Paulo because of my dad's work. In São Paulo, I studied in a British school called BIS for my 3rd grade year. Afterwards, I studied in a Brazilian school called Santa Catrina de Sena for my 4th and half of 5th years. Next, I moved to PACA, where I currently study. Although it is a Protestant school, I am a Jew and I do not believe in Jesus Christ, for I think that there is only one true God and that he does not have holy sons that we should worship. I started editing in the Portuguese Wikipedia but, on November 15 of 2007, I began editing in the English one, where I mostly edit. I am currently in 7th grade.

Hobbies

I don't like to watch anime. I like to go to the cinema regularly, strongly preferring original versions over dubbed ones. I also like to read books which have eithermagic and comedy. I like very much to play Grand Theft Auto, preferring the Vice City Stories and San Andreas versions.

I don't really like listening to music, but I definitely think that songs from the 60's, 70's, and 80's are much better than today's songs. Nothing can be compared to The Beatles and Queen!

Contributes

In Wikipedia, I have mainly been translating articles from the Portuguese Wikipedia, most of which are related to Brazilian Carnival. I have currently translated 32 articles. I have created one article (Rogers McVaugh). Although I am not interested in botany, I created it because it was one of the most wanted articles. Nowadays, I like patrolling recent changes and just making minor edits or adding stuff and references to articles. I am also a member of the Birthday Committee and every day wish Wikipedians a happy birthday. I always try to keep a neutral point of view and I always reference my contributes (some of my translated articles are not referenced becuase I transalted them from the Portuguese Wikipedia, but I always try to reference them).

Important Relatives

  • Louis B. Mayer- early film producer, most famous for his stewardship and co-founding of the Hollywood film studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. He is the uncle of my grandfather.
  • Mordechai Spiegler- former Israeli footballer and Israel's top scorer. I know he is connected to my father's family. He and my grandfather were actually very close friends.
