[edit] Open Source ?

"Some code within this file was written by authors other than myself. As such, distributing this code or distributing modified versions of this code is strictly prohibited without written authorization from the authors." (from the header of the current version (3.1.2))

Doesn't really sound like OSS to me, sentence deleted.

[edit] Many versions

It'd seem that there's no single game that can claim to be the Idle RPG. While there's the original SlashNet version, which was the first version, other (more popular, even?) versions use the name Idle RPG as well. Therefore, I propose discussing all variants on Idle RPG, being an IRC RPG game where you idle, in this article.

[edit] Links section

Wikipedia is not an advertising service, and I guess most of the link section could be removed entirely, leaving only the notable IdleRPGs... I'm not going to decide which worthy of inclusion, however. So I've just reorganized the external links section, dividing into a section for actually notable versions, and the rest.

I've also removed weaselwords and most advertising language, sticking to mentioning their names and intended audience. (Also removed are the fact that all are modified in some way... we get it, already.)

And just to stay unbiased with regards to the order, I ran the "rest" section through sort.

[edit] Regarding external links

I see the external links section as a great opportunity for proponents and principals of Idle RPGs to use Wikipedia as advertisement, when in fact it should only be used for encyclopedic purposes--in this case, discussing the original and significant contributory versions of the game, the original on SlashNET and the GameSurge variant which was a significant reworking of the original. Therefore I think we should maintain an external links list that only consists of significant versions of the game, rather than any old version, since at this point there are tons. To go along with what Kwi has posted above, Wikipedia is not an advertising service and I'm getting a bit discouraged by the resilience of IRPG owners/players in adding a link to their own site after we've made it pretty clear we don't want just any site linked from here.

Unless your site is a significant change or derivative work on the concept of the Idle RPG (and you can support this without original research), it does not belong in the external links section. Please do not add any more links without justification for doing so. Bill Kramme 10:10, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] humour

The artical totally seems to miss the fact that this is a humourus game based on the fact that while IRC is a "chat" medium, 90% of the time most users are connected, they dont actually spend any time chatting... (ok i made the stat up but we all know its true!).--90.195.63.24 (talk) 00:20, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
