Ideography may refer to:

  • a writing system. See ideogram
  • a branch of lexicography.
  • The science of making ideographic dictionaries. Ideographic or conceptual (ideological) dictionaries as opposed to alphabetical dictionaries are characterized by the way the dictionary entries are organized. The usual way of doing it is to put the words by their semantic relations. The examples of ideographic dictionaries are as follows: thesauri, thematic dictionaries, picture dictionaries.
