Ideal Processed Meats was founded in 1983 in Benoni, Johannesburg, South Africa. The company grew considerably in its early years and the brand established itself amongst larger rivals. In 1998 Ideal Processed Meats was sold to Nimbus Holdings. Nimbus Holdings was liquidated due to various financial irregularities, this resulted in Ideal Meats being liquidated in 1999. In 2000 the company was reconstituted. Since then the company has adopted an aim of rebuilding itself to is former glory. The business now operates under three divisions: Property (Crown Cormorant Investments (Pty) LTD); Manufacturing (Saracen meats CC); Sales (Ideal Processed Meats CC). The company is currently owned and managed by: Peter Rosslyn-Smith & Takis Pontikos.
