[edit] Date of Birth
What is the source for the DOB? I've consulted The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz, and it gives her DOB as 25 February 1896. *Exeunt* Ganymead | Dialogue? 16:47, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
I also question the date. My copy of the album "Wild Women Don't Have The Blues", Ida Cox, Foremothers, Vol 1, issued by Rosetta Records in 1981 has extensive (3 pages) of liner notes on Ms. Cox. It reports that "Ida Cox was born Ida Prather on February 25, 1889, a pisces, in Cedartown, Georgia." The liner notes were written by the producer of the album, Rosetta Reitz. This album is a reissue of the Riverside Records RLP 9374. - WESmith
The date, according to Ida herself (as given to me by her in 1961) was February 25, 1896. Rosetta Reitz exploited the blues ladies, but knew very little about them. (BTW I produced the Riverside album from which she took the material on her Rosetta label. -- Chris Albertson —Preceding unsigned comment added by Christiern Albertson (talk • contribs) 20:38, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
