iCy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The iCy is a robot penguin designed and manufactured by Sega Toys. It is also manufactured by Hasbro, which sells the iCy in North America.
iCy, like iDog, iCat and iFish, responds as a speaker to any music device with a 3.5mm audio jack input. In addition to playing, it dances and the LED lights on its stomach flash in time to the music. Unlike its predecessors, it has only two touch sensors for user interaction, its tail, which is designed to annoy it rather than reward it, and beak, which you press to pet it. It has various emotions which change based on user interaction and music played.
The iCy was probably designed to interact with the iPod (hence the name, even though the iPod is designed by the Apple Computer company), though it has an integrated speaker and reacts if placed near an audio source (such as speakers).
The iCy is designed to personify different traits and acts irritated when it has been without music for a while, waving its arms and squawking; "feeding" the iCy music makes it feel better. You can also show it attention by tapping its beak, tapping it twice will prompt it to dance, sing one of its precoded songs, and display its current mood.
