The family Ichthyodectidae (literally "Fish Biters") was a family of marine pachycormid fish that ranged throughout the Cretaceous period. They ranged in size from 1 to 5 meters in length. All ichthyodectids were predators, preying on fish, though, not all species, such as Gillicus arcuatus, had large teeth. In several cases, larger species even preyed on smaller species.
