Talk:ICFP Programming Contest

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm using http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Conference_on_Functional_Programming_Contest as inspiration, but I only have a basic understanding of German. Any help appreciated. --Janto 22:28, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

Following the links at the bottom of the page, it is clear that the winning language in 2004 and 2005 was Haskell. I think that listing all the prizes (as in the German version) would be better.

Although all prizes are won by teams, in the judges' declarations (listed at the end of the article), the placed prizes (and the lightning prize, if awarded) honour a language, while the Judges' Prize honours a team.

[edit] 2006 contest

I've removed the winner's language for the 2006 contest, because it was listed as 2D. That's silly, but not accurate. When they post an actual language it should go there. -- BillWeiss | Talk 06:33, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Silly or not, that was the language the winning team chose; check out the end of the video from the contest presentation. โ€” brighterorange (talk) 17:55, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] 2007 contest

Although the team that came third used OCaml, there was no third prize this year. It only happened that the third place team won the JUDGES prize, although they don't recognise the language used for the judges prize. MarcoGallotta 19:06, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

I don't see a citation for the 2007 results, and I can't find them on icfpcontest.org (yet; will they be posted soon?). I want to know more! โ€”Isaac Dupree(talk) 20:45, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
The official announcement was made at the ICFP Conference, but they haven't posted it online yet. I've posted more results on my blog (taken from a hard copy of the report which has yet to be released online): [1] MarcoGallotta 06:33, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
It's at http://www.cs.uu.nl/research/techreps/repo/CS-2007/2007-029.pdf now. --Taejo|๋Œ€์กฐ 08:34, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Team Smartass

It would seem the external link given under Perennial Teams has nothing to do with Team Smartass. Janzert (talk) 22:31, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
