I started patrolling the Recent Changes after reading that some months ago, as well, which is how I caught that IP vandalizing in the first place. If you do it too, then you also deserve a thank you for helping make (and keep) Wikipedia better, so: thank you. —Salmar (talk) 19:08, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

User:Xxxxxxxxxxpt

This is one of those borderline cases here as it looks somewhat meeting (or close to) point #1 according the according to the policy. So it is hard to say if it was a good or not good your decision to filed that report although I disagree that it was pointless though, since it is a borderline case.

However, the user has not caused any [| disruption] so far, only some unsuccessful attempts to upload a Chris Brown album cover with a proper copyright or use rationale. My best bet I believe for now is probably to discuss the issue with the user (Xxx........) in question and your concerns about his user name that may be inappropriate per the policy standards. Probably, I wouldn't have block him just yet especially since he has not done any disruption, but other admins may have a different view then me, so someone like me would have probably not touch that kind of report. If this guy would have vandalized or created inappropriate pages I would have blocked him like I did here.

The policy says also user names satisfying one or more examples (the 5 points mentioned in that page) are not necessarily inappropriate. So disruption seems to be one factor although obviously a violation of points 3 and 5 are generally warranting a express-block (even without editing disruption) while for points 1, 2 and 4, it may not necessarily be the case. Although I would say that the vast majority of editors with usernames meeting those 5 points are generally disruption-only accounts. In this case, we may have to wait for more contributions from him, but you can discuss it with him anyways but right he does not deserve a block for now.

So I hope that I have helped you out a bit on the issue, so probably discuss with the user first or I can put later on a message if necessary. Thanks! --JForget 00:46, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Semi-Protection of Pluto

Hi, you turned down my request that Pluto be semi-protected on the grounds that it was already protected. This does not appear to be the case. If you look at the page history, IPs are still editing and vandalising the page [1]. According to the page log [2], it is only protected from page moves. Could you please look into this. Thanks --GW_SimulationsUser Page | Talk 22:36, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Deleting edits

Hi there. Normally deleting edits to a page is not a procedure carried out unless a page itself is deleted. Part of the licence involved with Wiki editing is attributing every edit to the user or IP address which made the edit. There are exceptions where certain edits will be deleted, but these happen in very rare circumstances, and this for example, is not one of them. Bobo. 18:29, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Re:Adminship

Basically if you think you're capable of handling everything listed the job description at WP:ADMIN, then you should be ready. Usually, the RfA crowd looks for editors who are good contributors to the encyclopedia (non-RC patrol mainspace editing). They look for users who have tagged articles/images for speedy deletion, reported vandals to AIV, participated in deletion discussion at AfDs or DRV, among other things. The user needs a history of civility at all times, and there should not be any issues regarding behavior/maturity. Personally, I believe you need to gain more experience editing articles and participating in deletion discussion at AIV. Discussion demonstrates your communication skills, which is a critical factor in the RfA crowd's decision to support/oppose you. With article editing, you learn more about the encyclopedia, and you get more involved in hands-on collaborations and working with your peers (which also goes back to the idea of communication skills). I hope that answers your question. Nishkid64 (talk) 05:54, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Nelly Furtado - Forca.ogg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Nelly Furtado - Forca.ogg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 13:55, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Your RfA

It looks like I didn't read your answer throughly enough. It seemed like you would warn them both for 3RR, then tell the registered user to report to AIV. I've changed my vote to neutral - unfortunately you don't have enough experience yet. NF24(radio me!Editor review) 15:47, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

I am sorry but experience is essential. I have no doubts that you'll make a good admin in a few months. Experience is important especially and the community and the stakes are becoming higher. Good luck next time. Thanks. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 22:32, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your comment at my RFA. I can see that the community feels that 2 months experience is not enough to become and admin. To some degree I see where they are coming from. I guess you have to 'experience' wikipedia instead of knowing it. Don't worry, no pains of sorrow on my part! I just think of this RFA as' testing the waters'. Anyways, I'll probably try another RFA in about 3 months. Watch out for me! Icestorm815 23:04, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
If you keep thinking it in numbers (1/3/10 months or years) and links [Cat:Admins open for recall], you'd probably not make it. I think it would be better if you think about it as a 'coincidence'. I will come but don't push it. Cheers. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 23:10, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
O.K. thanks for presenting it to me that way. By the way, I wasn't trying to push anything upon you, just letting you know that I'm going to eventually try again sometime. That's all. Happy editing! Icestorm815 23:14, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

geo-stubs

Hi Icestorm - I see you've been stub-sorting (good!), and adding {{geo-stub}} to quite a few articles. Template:TlGeo=stub is only used for articles to do with places worldwide - any article about a place in a specific country gets {{CountryName-geo-stub}} or {{StateName-geo-stub}} (e.g., {{India-geo-stub}} or {{Kentucky-geo-stub}}). It'd savbe a little more work down the track if you could use them where possible! Cheers (and keep up the good work :) Grutness...wha? 23:02, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey thanks for pointing that out for me! I wasn't aware of that. I'll be sure to do it the way you showed me. Happy stub-sorting! Icestorm815 23:08, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Your RFA

Hello. You went and closed your RFA, and you blanked it. You are not supposed to do that. So, I went back and closed it and went back and un-blanked it. Sorry it failed, and try again when you get more experience. PatPolitics rule! 23:27, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I didn't intentionally mean to blank my RFA. I was trying to close it, but encountered some difficulty. Thanks for helping me out by fixing that part. I managed to finish the rest. I'll be sure to try again when I feel I have enough experience. Thanks again! Icestorm815 23:30, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Deletion closure

Greetings, just a heads-up, I've overturned your closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lee Jones (author) and reopened, as per Wikipedia:Deletion process#Non-administrators closing discussions. I'm of the opinion that at that stage of the discussion, with only four opinions in, of which three were from people who had edited the article and have a vested interest in poker coverage, it was far too early to call anything like a SNOW-like consensus. Regular speedy keeps are really only for things like bad-faith nominations and other procedural irregularities, and SNOW-justified speedy keeps should be done with utmost restraint, and certainly not after less than two hours. Thanks, Fut.Perf. 15:06, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Please consider ending your debate with user Gunnerdevil4.
I'm merely responding to the increasingly bizarre, unhinged-from-policy-and-practice claims he keeps leaving on my talk page. If he stops with the bizarre claims, baseless threats, and pretend authority he keeps leaving, there's nothing TO consider.
I would be a good idea to consider giving an apology to this user. For being right? Nope. That would be a bad idea, since it would simply feed his sense of entitlement and encourage further nonsense. --Calton | Talk 06:24, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Anyone can. Just go into the page history, bring up an old revision, press "edit", type an appropriate summary, and press Save. Arbitrator notifications

Hi. Just to save you some time in the future, if you have information about an arbitration-related matter, it is not necessary to notify each arbitrator individually on his or her talkpage. For example, in the situation you reported today, the listing on the log sheet is sufficient for the administrators who handle arbitration enforcement to follow up as needed. Speedy deletion

Thanks for your note. Yes, I'm an administrator, but I don't always think that I have the only opinion about a page so, when I tag a page for speedy deletion, I leave it for another administrator to have a look at before he or she deletes it (or doesn't delete it, as the case may be). I just think there should be two opinions on whether a page should be deleted and I only get to have one of them. The exception I make to that rule is attack pages, which I tag and then delete immediately, because I figure those shouldn't hang around for long. I have also been known to delete some very clear-cut examples of nonsense pages, or things that have been multiply recreated without changes, without tagging them first, but that's very rare and I try not to do that. Hope this helps. Accounting4Taste:talk 20:43, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Dr. Drexler himself asked me to start this page, and he assured me that as far as he is aware, liberal verbatim quotation from the Technology Roadmap document should not be a problem from a copyright standpoint. I don't know what the copyright terms of the document are, but I suspect it probably is not under the GFDL. Hmm, OK, I see your point, the whole of Wikipedia needs to be GFDL. Please let me know. Regards. Krzysiulek 06:20, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

RE:AFC- Lori J. Robinson

Hi Icestorm

It is good to see there are others working on the WP:AFC pages! I was planning to mention it on your talk page, but there are too many other things to do! So I never got around to it. I could have just accepted the article. Sometimes I have accepted an article that was already declined. Not only for .mil, but for most US federal government web stuff (eg www.loc.gov) the copyright is public domain. It may however not be a balanced point of view for a wikipedia article! MENGES

Thanks for your help. I shall try to get some more information. Regards. Krzysiulek (talk) 10:45, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Please help...

Hello,

I'm truly sorry to bother you with this, and I hope your finals went well.

Someone recently took the time to seriously defame me, my wife and my 3 year old son via an adjustment to a wikipedia entry (Jeremiah George Dellas 14Nov2006). It is an entry which you are on record as having reviewed. I am hopeful that you can help me determine the IP address of the slandering editor. I have printed off the slanderous material, and forwarded it both to the authorities as well as my attorney.

Clearly I am not at all angered with you, I fully understand that you only helped decide that this article was not wiki-worthy, and that's a non issue.

Please Help Me,

Jeremiah Dellas j_dellas@hotmail.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jdellas (talkcontribs) 00:40, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

Saga's Needle

Hi, Sorry about my addition just now. It's my first time logged on, so I was not prepared to post my article properly. Now I understand how it's suppost to work! Hope I'll get a secon shot at publishing an interesting piece. (Saga's Needle was taged for removal, quite rightly.) If you'll reconcider, I'll be more prepared next time, probably by next weekend.

Thanks,

About Metaledgeinc06

He also removed the nomination listing on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/2008 January 11 page, which I undid. I have never seen anyone do that before. Mh29255 (talk) 04:03, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

I apologize for the mistake, this won't happen again, I want to make sure I wasn't being vandalized I have posted why the pages should stay in the talk sectionsMetaledgeinc06 (talk) 04:14, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for voting in my RfA, which I withdrew with 5 support, 14 oppose, and 9 neutral. Thank you for your comments! Whether it was a support, oppose, or neutral, I likely got some good feedback from you. I will probably do another RfA in the future, but not until I work out the issues brought up.

Roman Heart

Please note that user David in DC is stalking every page I have ever posted, apparently intent on mischief. He has already blanked this page once. Anyone interested in this page should keep an eye on it and contact me on my talk page if further problems arise from this user. If he repeatedly blanks this page, you may want to request a block and let me know on my talk page. Sadly, he has nominated the article for deletion. You may want to go to the deletion page and vote "Keep". John celona (talk) 14:07, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

I have to agree that the AFD was closed quite fast and too early, however in the past I did closed some AFDs quite early but mostly after 5 or 6 votes that goes in the same direction unless the article is really bad. Maybe it should kept open for a few more votes even if it was unanimous although even the nominator voted Keep so the closer probably concluded as a nomination withdrawal, Even though I'm not an expert on porn bios, looking at the article, he looks to be notable enough to merit an article (based on the arguments from User:Todd, User:AnounEMouse and User:Gene93k but I think it needs some work with more info and sources to make him pass even further WP:PORNBIO. No, for now there is no need for re-opening the AFD considering that the outcome was heading for a snowball keep (even with or without the issue you've discussed on my talk page (that issue can be brought to WP:ANI if necessary) but some improvements would be needed for sure to avoid a potential future AFD as it may be susceptible in this current state. --JForget 18:18, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Oops sorry, actually, he is already subject right now at WP:ANI for other issues although not the canvassing, but in that issue he stopped so no problem with that unless he starts this again be he understood and it was only a few postings that's it. --JForget 18:38, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

sorry for bothering you but....

I was wondering if you could help me create a wiki page for Live at the marquee, in ireland it was a venue that held 7 or 8 concerts and will most probably hold more concerts in mid to late march. I've tried for a couple of months now to get somebody to help me create it or let me know if its useful enough to be created with no reply from anyone. if you go to phoenix park and go to concerts you'll see some of the editing ive done. sorry to have bothered you as i can see you do a lot for wiki. i dont have an account at the moment but i'd really appreciate if you could help me on this. thanks, Eoin Leonard---> Eoin1988Leonard@hotmail.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.100.191.27 (talk) 01:16, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Rudget!

Dear Icestorm815, my sincere thanks for your support in my second request for adminship, which ended with 113 supports, 11 opposes, and 4 neutral. I would especially like to thank my admin coach and nominator, Rlevse and Ryan Postlethwaite who in addition to Ioeth all inspired me to run for a second candidacy. I would also like to make a special mention to Phoenix-wiki, Dihyrdogen Monoxide and OhanaUnited who all offered to do co-nominations, but I unfortunately had to decline. I had all these funny ideas that it would fail again, and I was prepared for the worst, but at least it showed that the community really does have something other places don't. Who would have though Gmail would have been so effective? 32 emails in one week! (Even if it does classify some as junk :P) I'm glad that I've been appointed after a nail biting and some might call, decision changing RFA, but if you ever need anything, just get in touch. The very best of luck for 2008 and beyond, Rudget. 16:16, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
