I'm Canadian/Icelandic, a computer scientist from Ottawa, living in Reykjavík. I write financial software for Icelandic banks and am also doing my Master's degree part-time at the University of Iceland. I love the wilderness and spending time outdoors, and go to Muskoka and Algonquin Park every summer, where one day I wouldn't mind retiring to a little log cabin. I'm also crazy about volleyball and play as much as possible.
Here on Wikipedia I guess I'm a deletionist; I think there's too much cruft. Hitting the random article button one so rarely sees an article on an encyclopedic subject. Very detailed information, such as play-by-play accounts of a sports event or every school in a district can be extracted from other websites dedicated to that sort of information, and it is unreasonable to expect Wikipedia to always be synchronized with those sources. It will never be synchronized, therefore the overall quality of Wikipedia goes down. (Please do not leave me messages that I should stop wasting my time complaining and start improving neglected articles — I see the duplication of information as pointless). I think the best way my philosophy of Wikipedia has been described is as a "well-educated friend who has a lot of knowledge, not information" (courtesy of WMMartin).
I am not a big contributor here and mainly do small cleanup on articles I read for interest, or occasionally participate in a deletion debate.
