[edit] College

  • Agrees with John Edwards' free college program to students who work part time through college.
  • Disagrees with using federal taxes to pay for college for students who enroll in the military, claiming it to be an irresponsible and unfair use of federal money. This money should not be limited to young men who choose to serve in the military, but evenly distributed to every student.
  • Supports federally-subsidized college, though realizes that the cost of paying for 100% of colleges

[edit] War/Military

Opposes funding unnecessary military funding. Believes in non-violencd. Believes that power of declaring war upon a nation should include the opinions of the entire nation, and thus not give full power to the President. Believes that researching and making top-secret weapons with greater firepower is excessive and a waste of tax-payers money.

[edit] NASA

  • Believes technological advances should be made through NASA instead of the military.
  • Believes funding should be increased for space exploration and research.

[edit] Male Car Insurance

Believes it is unfair to charge young male drivers more based on a statistic. At the very least, companies should look at behaviors of drivers better, reclassifying people. Rates should be equal among men and women, or at least before the male gets in his first collision. This is sexual discrimination, and if insurance companies tried to charge higher for African American drivers, even if African Americans statistically get in more collisions that cost more money from the insurance companies than non-African Americans, that it would be deemed unconstitutional. The law should be extended to not allowing discrimination against a male with no previous car collision record. Believes that cyclists make better drivers, because cyclists must be more attentive to drivers and the space around them; the more time a cyclist spends on the road, the more attentive they will become to driver behavior and road safety, and this makes for a safer driver, which should be rewarded with lower insurance rates.

[edit] Cycling

Big supporter of cycling, as it reduces wear on roads 1000-fold, is friendly on the environment, and makes air cleaner to breathe for cyclists, joggers, and pedestrians walking near roadways. Cyclists take up less room on the roads, requiring fewer roads to be widened for exponential residential growth. Cyclist-pedestrian collisions rarely result in a fatality, and so is a safer form of transportation. The more people choose to cycle instead of drive, the safer the roads will become.

[edit] Global Warming

In favor of decreasing global warming by subsidizing public transit systems, offer lower taxes for "green companies", and partially subsidize residential "green appliances". Offer tax breaks for carbon neutral transportation, such as cycling, using ethanol-based fuels, and public transit. Apply "large vehicle tax" to owners of a vehicle that gets less than 15 miles/gallon.

[edit] Smoking Policy

  • Believes in stricter smoking policies that limit the distance a smoker may be from others without their consent. Believes smoking within 100 feet of any building and 20 feet near a public walkway should be illegal.
  • Believes smoking in the presence of a minor should be illegal.
  • Supports an increased tobacco tax to help fund cancer research and anti-tobacco campaigns.
  • Believes in making tobacco advertisements on television, on the internet, and in print illegal.

[edit] Other Views/Opinions

  • Is in favor of Blu-ray over HD DVD after having read Blu-ray vs HD DVD, due to higher data transfer rates and capacity. The discs cost about the same[1][2]. The only problem with Blu-ray is the drive cost, which will go down. Several manufacturers have developed drives that can read and write in both formats, making this format war likely to resolve in a similar situation to DVD-R vs DVD+R, but without the confusion of plus and minus due to distinct names. Nonetheless, I am glad that HD DVD does exist, as industry competition benefits the consumer by accelerating technology.
