[edit] Origins / rules etc of the Prize

I have been unable to locate anything in English so far regarding this prize, its origins, how it is awarded, categories etc. If any Icelandic readers out there could have a look at this passage from the prize website and use it to write a couple of introductory sentences, that would be great! hamiltonstone (talk) 12:37, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

Félag íslenskra bókaútgefenda veitir Íslensku bókmenntaverðlaunin í janúar ár hvert. Verðlaun eru veitt í flokki fagurbókmennta og í flokki fræðibóka. Félag íslenskra bókaútgefenda, Heimspekideild H.Í., Rithöfundasamband Íslands, Rannsóknaráð ríkisins og Hagþenkir skipa dómnefnd sem velur 5 bækur í hvorn flokk. Annar í flokk fagurbókmennta, hinn í flokk fræðibóka. Þriðji aðili sem tilnefndur er af forseta Íslands myndar dómnefnd ásamt hinum tveimur. Nefndin sér síðan um að velja eina bók í hvorum flokki sem hlýtur verðlaunin. Verðlaunin voru fyrst veitt árið 1989.
