Ice Gator is the fictional alligator mascot of Disney's Blizzard Beach water park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, in the United States. According to Disney legend, Florida's first ski resort was melting, and the operators were preparing to cut their losses and walk away. They were interrupted however, by an echoing "YAHHOOO!!!" coming from the mountain of melting snow. They looked up to see an alligator wearing a purple scarf and a purple and pink (Or gold and purple depending on the image) ski hat careening down the mountain at top speed. Ice Gator then landed in a pool of melted snow at the base of the mountain with a thunderous splash. The ski resort operators suddenly saw the park's potential, and the mountain of snow became Blizzard Beach, "the most slushy, slippery, exhilarating water park anywhere!" (It is reasonable to assume that the Typhoon Lagoon mascot, known as Lagoona Gator, is related to Ice Gator.)

[edit] Where to find him

  • On the ride height signs Ice Gator is shown holding a five and a half foot ruler.
  • On the side of the Beach Haus, the park's main souvenir shop, is a hole shaped like Ice Gator. (The area is themed as if he ski jumped off Summit Plummet and crashed into the building.)
  • Ice Gator was formerly found walking around the park during the summer months for guests to greet and have photographs taken with. However, he no longer does so. According to Cast Member sources, this was firstly because of incidents involving guests, and secondly a lack of guest recognition of the character.
